Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced that it will begin operating flights to and from London’s Heathrow Airport in Zone A of Terminal 2 beginning on 2 July 2014.

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced that it will begin operating flights to and from London’s Heathrow Airport in Zone A of Terminal 2 beginning on 2 July 2014.

THAI will move from Terminal 3 to its new home in Zone A of Terminal 2, known as the Queen’s Terminal in honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. THAI is one of 23 Star Alliance airlines operating flights to and from Heathrow that will make Terminal 2 their new home, which is the first time that all member carriers will be collocated at the airport. The Star Alliance member carriers serving Heathrow are: Aegean Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, SWISS, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, THAI, and United. Heathrow’s Terminal 2 opened on 4 June 2014.

Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, THAI Acting President, said that THAI is pleased to offer passengers a new travel experience at Heathrow’s Terminal 2 with unparalleled passenger efficiency and comfort. THAI will be among the first airlines to move into Terminal 2, with its first flight operating from Heathrow’s Terminal 2 being TG911 on 2 July 2014 which departs from London Heathrow at 12.30 hours and arrives in Bangkok at 06.05 hours the next day. The first flight to depart from Bangkok destined for landing at Terminal 2 is flight TG910 which departs from Bangkok at 01.10 hours and arrives in London Heathrow at 07.15 hours.

THAI will continue to operate Airbus A340-600 and newly refurbished Boeing 747-400 aircraft to and from Heathrow’s Terminal 2, offering passengers a new travel experience at Terminal 2 that is modern and state-of-the-art. Terminal 2, designed by leading architect Mr. Luis Vidal, was jointly developed by Heathrow, Star Alliance, and its member carriers in order to establish a seamless hub at a major international airport that provides increased ease and comfort for passengers with connecting flights.
Terminal 2 is equipped with more automated processes and common facilities than currently exists in any of Heathrow’s other terminals, such as common use self-service kiosks for check in and/or print a bag tag before proceeding to a bag drop desk. Full-service traditional check-in desks are provided for the use of First Class, Business Class, and Star Alliance Gold passengers, with fast-track option for premium passengers to speed through security checks.
