Photographer Luc Perrot won first place in the International Photography Contest, Heaven and Earth. His shot called “Above the summits” has won the jury but also the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Renowned for his photographs depicting landscapes of Reunion Island in the sky, Luc Perrot won the first prize of the 5th International Photography Contest, Heaven and Earth. Its cliche “Above summits” was awarded in the category of “Beauty of the Night Sky” by the jury from more than a thousand images from 55 countries.

As good news never comes alone, photography by Luc Perrot also received the votes of the State Administration of aeronautics and space, better known by the acronym NASA. All day on Thursday, June 19, 2014, Reunion Island was exposed on the web, in the “Photo of the day” site of the U.S. government agency. ( http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140619.html )

This image, made at night, allowed Luc Perrot to capture the summit of Piton de la Fournaise, surrounded by a belt of clouds in the light of the Milky Way. Through this picture, Luc Perrot climbed Reunion Island to 7th heaven!
