From the end of June, the Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) will launch the renaming of the various terminals now in use or to be put into use in coming weeks and months, doing away with the familiar “Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3” which were in use since the airport was officially launched in 1978.

Regular travelers through Nairobi better memorize the new way how the terminals buildings are being renamed and re-configured to avoid confusion, although assurances were given that in the transition period, KAA and airline staff will be especially geared towards helping passengers to find the right terminal building to avoid missing their flights.

PREVIOUS NAME/NUMBER OF TERMINAL – NEW NAME/NUMBER OF TERMINAL

TERMINAL 4 – TERMINAL 1 A (INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURES / ARRIVALS)

UNIT 1 – TERMINAL 1 B (INT’L DEPARTURES)

UNIT 2 – TERMINAL 1 C (INT’L DEPARTURES)

UNIT 3 – TERMINAL 1 D (DOMESTIC FLIGHTS)

TEMPORARY ARRIVALS TERMINAL – TERMINAL 1 E (INT’L ARRIVALS)

INTERIM TERMINAL (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) – TERMINAL 2

GREENFIELD TERMINAL (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) – TERMINAL 3

New signage will be put up on June 30 to make the transition for regular passengers easier to find their way around the airport following the new numbering system, and public notices will be appearing in the local media in Kenya.
