Trinidad and Tobago’s vibrant and eclectic culinary scene took top honors at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Media Awards luncheon 2014.

The luncheon, held at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel on Thursday 5 June, 2014, gave prominence to noteworthy media coverage on destinations throughout the Caribbean.

Writer Ann Vanderhoof took home the award for “Best Feature Article in a Consumer Magazine” for her feature article showcasing the culinary prowess of Trinidad’s culinary scene titled, “Trinidad on 50 tastes A Day.”

The article is a result of the writer’s visit to the destination and a follow-up January 2013 press trip coordinated by the tourist board’s United States public relations firm, Cheryl Andrews Marketing Communications (CAMC), with on-island support from the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (TDC), industry partners and stakeholders.

The 12-page story appeared in the May 2013 issue of ISLANDS magazine and featured vibrant images from a culinary tour hosted by on-island stakeholder Jesse James showcasing the depth and diversity of the Trinidad’s street food scene including popular treats doubles, cow-heel soup, bake and shark and roti.
