On a recent visit to Capetown, South Africa, eTN’s publisher was warned by the police about armed gunmen robbing people in the countryside. He was told to stay on freeways and avoid smaller highways.
What happened to a mountain biker recently confirms this fear, and better catches it on camera.
A mountain biker was robbed at gunpoint – but filmed the encounter with a head-mounted video camera. The cyclist was riding from Ongegund in Somerset West in South Africa when an armed gunmen and two others stopped him and took his cellphone, car keys, sunglasses, and bike.
“Fortunately they did not have a clue what a GoPro video camera was, and this is the evidence that will assist in their prosecution,” he is quoted as saying.
