WASHINGTON, DC – New leaders took the reins at the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today. Elected in April at AFA’s annual convention, Sara Nelson became AFA International President, while Debora Sutor filled Sara’s former position as International Vice President, and Kevin Creighan entered his third full term as International Secretary-Treasurer.

“We are moving AFA forward, mobilizing Flight Attendants for better pay, better working conditions, and better careers. For the past 68 years, we have maintained a laser-focus on Flight Attendants that has made a real difference at the bargaining table and in the legislative/regulatory arena. With our union we have an expert voice at work and we continue to beat back discrimination wherever it exists. It is an honor to carry on that tradition as International President as we bring that same focus to raising industry standards for Flight Attendant across the board,” said Sara Nelson, AFA International President.

“As leaders, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our flying partners across the country pressing forward on the issues that matter most to Flight Attendants. I am proud to work alongside dedicated Flight Attendants who have devoted their careers to advancing our profession. We will work tirelessly to ensure that we use our collective strength to make the improvements that reflect the contributions of AFA members to our airlines’ success,” said Debora Sutor, AFA International Vice President.

“AFA is focused on the future for all Flight Attendants. Alongside my fellow officers, we are excited for the opportunities on the horizon at the world’s largest Flight Attendant union and we are dedicated to defending and advancing Flight Attendant careers,” added Kevin Creighan, AFA International Secretary-Treasurer.

AFA is a union run by and for Flight Attendants. The AFA International Officers are proud to be Flight Attendants themselves. Sara Nelson and Kevin Creighan have been United Airlines Flight Attendants for 18 and 36 years respectively. Debora Sutor has been a Flight Attendant with Envoy Airlines, formerly American Eagle, for 25 years.
