LAS VEGAS, NV – The World Food Championships (WFC) and Las Vegas announced an extension of their partnership that will fuse the culinary competition’s integration with the top epicurean destination in the world. The World Food Championships are slated to once again take over the Fremont Street Experience and Downtown Las Vegas, Nov. 12-18, where more than 500 competitors will test their cooking skills to claim bragging rights and huge cash prizes at the ultimate culinary showdown.

Only in Las Vegas can food, fame and fortune be combined into one jackpot event, so it is only fitting for the World Food Championships to partner with Las Vegas. The third annual World Food Championships will invite the champions from some of the biggest and best food competitions around the world to Las Vegas for one ultimate defining moment. Following a tournament-style format across nine iconic food categories โ€” BBQ, chili, burger, sandwich, recipe, dessert, bacon, pasta and seafood โ€” competitors will battle for their chance to claim the World Food Champion title.

“Las Vegas is an excellent location to host the World Food Championships,” said Mike McCloud, president of the World Food Championships. “We have found the opportunities available, specifically in Downtown Las Vegas, to be beneficial in helping us build our event into the multi-day culinary festival and spectacle it has become.”

“Las Vegas is a premier culinary destination with the most comprehensive collection of celebrity chefs, Master Sommeliers and world-class restaurants of any other place in the world,” said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “The World Food Championships competitors should feel right at home in Las Vegas.”

To keep competitors, judges and volunteers close to the action, the World Food Championships has developed partnerships and special hotel packages with the D Las Vegas Casino Hotel and Golden Nugget Las Vegas. Also, new this year will be the FoodFightWrite! World Food Championships blogger conference located at Plaza Las Vegas Hotel.

In 2013, the culinary competition was filmed for broadcast television, highlighting some of the best competition cooks and chefs under the neon glow of Las Vegas. “The World Food Championships” is a six-episode reality series chronicling the 2013 competition and will air on the A+E Networks’ new FYI Network in the summer of 2014.
