Libya’s Afriqiyah Airways has ordered $100 million in engines from GE Aviation, the company said Tuesday.

The CF6-80E1 engines will power three Airbus A330 aircraft, with an option for three additional aircraft, according to a news release. Delivery is scheduled to begin in May 2009.

Afriqiyah, owned by the Libyan government, is based in Tripoli and flies domestic and international routes to Africa and Europe.
