BANGKOK, Thailand – The Director General of the Department of Tourism has revealed the number of foreign tourists coming to Thailand this year has dropped 4.91 percent in 4 months.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Director General of the Department of Tourism has revealed the number of foreign tourists coming to Thailand this year has dropped 4.91 percent in 4 months.

The number of foreign tourists who traveled to Thailand from January – April 2014 was lower by 8.62 million people compared to the same time last year . Thailand lost about 4.4 trillion baht in income because of the absent tourists.

The four regions contributing to the decline are: Eastern Asia, down 11.6 percent, Southern Asia down 11.29 percent, Middle East down 5.53 percent, and Australia down 0.35 percent, while the number of tourists from three other regions is increasing such as Europe, up 7.63 percent, Africa, up 16.6 percent, and America up 0.48 percent.
