LOS ANGELES, California – “Earning the prestigious Green Globe certification is a testimony and a recognition that we are very proud of,” said Samer Khanfar, General Manager at Jumeirah Living World Trade Center Residences (WTCR) in Dubai. “This award highlights our ongoing commitment and dedication towards a more sustainable future.”

Jumeirah Living joins Burj al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and Jumeirah Emirates Towers, who already embrace the Green Globe program and positioned themselves as responsible and sustainable hotels.

This luxury lifestyle property has implemented a range of energy saving initiatives related to water resources and reduced operational costs. Special “Eco Apartments,” equipped with Energy Star appliances, LED light bulbs, biodegradable amenities, and motion sensors to automatically switch off lights and set back air conditioners at set temperatures, have been designed. The purchasing policy favors local and fair trade services and environmentally-friendly products, with packaging being reduced to a minimum.

“I believe enforcing eco-friendly practices should be the responsibility of all individuals in all walks of life,” added Samer Khanfar. “At Jumeirah Living we are happy to do our part. Being green is not only an improvement to our lifestyle and our workplace, but it is a way to give back to our community and environment, which we owe so much. This will eventually contribute positively to our economy as well.”

Jumeirah Living shines with a wealth of CSR activities, such as working closely with the Children’s Hope Foundation, aiming to support children and young people affected by illness, disability, or poverty. In line with the corporate philosophy, Jumeirah Living is dedicated to improve the lives of the local community and is involved in broader community investment activities. Earth Hour, Earth Day, and World Environment Day are observed, special events promoting awareness are organized on a regular basis.

Highly commended during the audit was the property’s outstanding sustainability management plan, paired with a deep respect for the environment, demonstrated by the entire team.

“Jumeirah Living is the first ‘mixed use residential building’ to achieve Green Globe Certification,” explained Sandrine Le Biavant, Director Consultancy, at Dubai-based FARNEK, Green Globe’s preferred partner in the Middle East and the company responsible for carrying out the certification audit.

“All staff members have shown a lot of passion and respect for the environment in the certification process. Everybody expressed a genuine interest to integrate a new angle of meaningful information and services – green solutions – into the business.”

“Throughout 2014, Jumeirah Living will continue to innovate and adopt new best practices to focus on environmental sustainability across all departments,” concluded Samer Khanfar.
