The inauguration of the Paris Fair was held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Porte de Versailles, where Reunion Island welcomed its first visitors with the rhythmic sounds of the band, Koulers Gadiamb. It was a glorious day under the sign of the tropics filled with Reunion Island traditions.

The first day of the event was marked with the quality of providers present and their products, along with quality musical entertainment, including the Koulers Gadiamb which stole the show on the big stage of the Paris Fair that took place in front of a curious and friendly public. Also performing was Joel Manglou with tropical notes that warmed the hearts of the visitors. Quality Reunion Island gastronomy was also on hand through the provision of Discovery Meeting which proposed a journey for the taste buds of gourmets and gourmands to come and enjoy local specialties at Reunion Islandโ€™s booth.

Hosted by Francois Boyer, Director of Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) and representative of Gites de France, Madam Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo stopped for a long time at the booth of Reunion Island. Having met and interacted with local professionals, Anne Hidalgo showed a particular interest in the scents of the Agricultural Cooperative Essential Oils of Bourbon (CAHEB), syrups and infusions of Nature Here and Elsewhere, and for Bourbon vanilla, as well as the sweetness of Calicoco.
