Big news for Europe’s meetings and events scene: The Global Business Travel Association has formed and launched four formal European committees for the industry across Aviation, Hotel, Meetings and Technology.

The committees will be comprised of GBTA members who will help improve levels of competence within the industry through the creation of toolkits, RFPs, white papers, templates, webinars and educational content.

The newly launched committees are led by the following industry professionals:

Aviation Committee โ€“ Chaired by Jorg Martin, Managing Director from CTC Corporate Travel Consulting and Chair of German partner association (VDR) Aviation Committee and Vice Chair Mia Andersson, Global Programme Manager from AstraZeneca Travel Service.

Technology Committee โ€“ Chaired by Louise Kilgannon, Global Business Partner from AstraZeneca Travel Service and Vice Chair Jean Michel Kadaner, Consultant from Key Corporate Solutions.

Hotel Committee โ€“ Chaired by Ulrika Rosen, Travel Manager from Tetra Pak and Vice Chair Pascal Jungfer Consultant from Areka Consulting.

Meetings Committee โ€“ Chaired by Izania Downie, Director Industry Strategy โ€“ Lanyon and Vice Chair Lotten Welinder, a Concept Owner Meetings from Ikea.

In a statement, Donna Kelliher, GBTA president and CEO, said that she has seen “the immense value” committees deliver to GBTA members and the wider industry. โ€œI look forward to seeing this same impact from our new committees in Europe.โ€

โ€œI am delighted that we will now be tapping into the extensive experience and knowledge of our members in Europe,โ€ said

Catherine McGavock, GBTAโ€™s Regional Director โ€“ EMEA, said that the caliber of applications the team has received for committee membership has been “outstanding,” and that the committees will create value for members both in Europe and globally.

GBTA has established a global liaison role in each North American committee to ensure communication and best practices are shared and work products optimized for all GBTA members.

GBTA is also planning to announce the launch of its Risk committee for Europe. The association is now calling on industry professionals who are interested in participating in any of the GBTA European committees to contact GBTA
