The New York Times reported on Friday that a corporate jet, owned by the Bank of Utah, with a small US flag on its tail, was parked in Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.

Iran says an American plane which landed in Tehranโ€™s Mehrabad Airport was operated by Ghana and was carrying a high-ranking Ghanaian delegation to the Islamic Republic.

โ€œThis plane was carrying a high-ranking delegation from Ghana and according to an announcement by the countryโ€™s government, the jet was in possession of the US and chartered by Ghanaโ€™s presidency,โ€ Iranโ€™s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Friday.

โ€œThe passengers of the plane comprised a delegation of Ghanaian officials headed by the brother of the countryโ€™s president, and none of its crew were Americans,โ€ she added.

Afkham said the Ghanaian delegation held talks with Iranian officials before leaving the country on Thursday.
