Millions of French commuters have been seeing ads for Northern Ireland on billboard posters as they pass through the busy Metro stations of the capital Paris.

The ads have also been seen on smaller billboards dotted around the French capital as well as other major cities.

Tourism Ireland has teamed up with one of the main online French travel agents โ€“ Voyages โ€“ for its largest ever joint promotional campaign.

Almost 700 billboard ads have been displayed in Metro stations across Paris, grabbing the attention of commuters with spectacular images of the Giant’s Causeway and the Wild Atlantic Way and featuring offers for a weekend break.

Sรฉverine Lecart, Tourism Ireland’s e-marketing executive in France, said: “2013 was a record year for French visitors to the island of Ireland and we are undertaking an extensive programme of promotions throughout 2014 to keep the momentum going and build on that growth.”

France provides the second largest number of visitors to Northern Ireland from mainland Europe, behind only Germany.
