Discover Sarasota County’s natural side with new hand-held guide

Visit Sarasota County launches the second edition of the Discover Natural Sarasota guide.

Visit Sarasota County launches the second edition of the Discover Natural Sarasota guide. This hand-held paper guide provides fast facts and tips on the best way to discover Sarasota’s natural paradise. The guides are free and available at the Official Visitor Information Center.

The first edition, developed in partnership with local parks and nature associations and organizations, was launched in 2008. The second edition, designed by Knight Marketing, with input provided by local associations and organizations, has a refreshed look and updated information.

The guide provides information on hiking, walking, running, paddle sports, cycling, wildlife viewing, birding and fishing as well as a list of parks, preserves and other natural places in Sarasota County to discover and explore. Each section provides an overview, top spots, frequently asked questions and their answers and an “Ask a Local” section. The “Ask a Local,” section provides insider tips on how to best enjoy the outdoor adventures in Sarasota County from individuals such as John Krotec, owner of Environeers; Jon Thaxton, Gulf Coast Community Foundation and local environmental advocate and Tommy Klauber, avid triathlete and owner of Polo Grill and Pattigeorge’s restaurants. Clyde Butcher, an internationally renowned photographer, environmentalist and local Sarasota County resident, provided the cover picture of Myakka River State Park.

In future months, VSC will update the discovernaturalsarasota.org website with refreshed content, images and information.
