A Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A310-300 flight bound from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or Lahore, Pakistan was forced to turn back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport because of a minor technical problem on Thursday.

According to aviation reports, flight PK889 had just reached cruise level 340 when the crew requested to return to Kuala Lumpur.

The report said PK889 landed safely on the runway about 65 minutes after departure.

A Pakistani TV station reported an engine had caught fire.

The airline confirmed a technical malfunction during the flight but said no engine fire had occurred.
