NEW YORK, New York – The Brazilian Tourism Board (EMBRATUR) has appointed Miguel Jeronimo as account manager at the East Coast Office, based in New York City. Mr. Jeronimo will provide the trade and tourism operators with information and updates about travel to Brazil, on this crucial year as Brazil prepares to host the FIFA 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic and Paralympics Games.

Mr. Jeronimo was previously in charge of the Brazilian Tourism Office in New York from 2004 to 2011 and he rejoins the promotion of Brazil as a tourism destination now that EMBRATUR also reopened the Brazilian Tourism Offices (BTOs) in Chicago and Los Angeles.

The BTOs will also be stocked with printed materials that trade professionals can use to market and sell the destinations and tourism products. The primary aim of the offices will be to provide country-specific information and to serve as a resource for trade professionals.

Mr. Jeronimo has a degree in International Relations, Master in Cultural and Political Affairs, and he is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. He was formerly the First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Portugal at the United Nations. He has also served as an external relations executive in the financial sector for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and he has worked representatives of the UN and member countries, assisting on logistical issues, including housing, tourist information and other related functions in NY.
