Thailand is set to lift the state of emergency in Bangkok this Wednesday, reassuring tourists that the security situation is back to normal and the country is safe to visit.
The move comes weeks after protesters shut down their camps which were blocking key city intersections and relocated to Bangkok’s Lumpini Park.
The city’s businesses and struggling tourism industry welcomed the news from National Security Council chief Paradorn Pattanathabutr.
Thai soldiers started decorating bunkers with colorful flowers and potted plants after the Prime Minister suggested the 176 checkpoints around Bangkok were unnerving residents and visitors.
