There are more problems with the Boeing Dreamliner. This time an emergency was declared by a Japan Airlines captain on JL 002 on a nonstop flight from Tokyo to San Francisco. 171 passengers and crew on board this flight may have only known the extent of the situation after the plane’s unscheduled landing in Hawaii. Among the passengers were tourists and business travelers. The plane changed course to the closest airport 1200 miles away – Honolulu on the US island state of Hawaii. The emergency landing was reportedly due to a possible problem with its hydraulic system.
The captain declared an emergency over the Pacific Ocean after a warning message about falling pressure of lubricant oil in its right engine, according to Japanese national broadcaster NHK. NHK said that there was no fire and no injuries.
In a short statement on its website, JAL said the jet had landed in Honolulu due to “maintenance issues.”
“This flight terminated its operation at Honolulu International Airport,” the announcement said.
The flight landed in Honolulu without incident at 1:20 pm local time on Saturday.
