STOWE, Vermont โ€“ The International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) is pleased that two of its members, the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) and Skal International will be participating at this yearโ€™s ITB event in Berlin.

Nigel Pilkington, Director, Public Relations & Communications, Skal International and member of the Skal International Executive Committee will be a featured speaker at this yearโ€™s ITB event commemorating the 25th anniversary of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism First Global Conference: Tourism โ€“ A Vital Force for Peace.

The IIPT 25th anniversary commemoration is in support of the โ€œWorld War I Centenaryโ€ with its theme of โ€œNo More Warโ€ and takes place:

Confirmed speakers in addition to Nigel Pilkington include Zoltan Somogyi, Executive Director, Programme & Coordination, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); Geoffrey Lipman, President, International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP): Elke Dens, Marketing Director, Visit Flanders; and Ivy Chee, Regional Director – East Asia, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). IIPT is also most pleased to welcome as a special guest speaker, Mr. Sushil Ghimire, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Nepal. Speakers will share their perspectives on โ€œBuilding a Culture of Peace through Tourism.โ€

As well, an announcement will be made by Cordula.Wohlmuther, UNWTO regarding launch of the โ€œInternational Handbook of Tourism and Peaceโ€ publication. The event will be moderated by Sandy Dhuyvetter, Executive Producer and Host, TravelTalkRADIO as well as BusinessTravelRADIO and TravelTalkTELEVISION.

The IIPT 25th Anniversary event will pay tribute to 10 โ€œPeace Makersโ€ of the past 100 years; highlight achievements of the Peace through Tourism Movement over the past 25 years; and present IIPT planned โ€œlegacy projectsโ€ of the 25th anniversary year.
