Among its many accolades, the paradise island of Bali in Indonesia can now celebrate this romantic Valentine’s Day with an added attribute as one of the World’s Top Ten Honeymoon Destinations for 2014, based on a survey by the worldwide hotel bookings website agoda.com. Ranked 4th in the list, Bali outranked other favorite honeymoon destinations around the world including Hawaii, Italy, and the Caribbean Islands.

Conducted online from January to February 2014 to find the world’s most favorite destinations for honeymoon in 2014, the survey was responded by no less than 15,000 respondents around the world who gave their vote for the best honeymoon destinations. Maldives sits on the first place with 20.3% votes, followed by Greece with 7.8% votes and Paris with 7.6% vote. Ranked on the 4th place, Bali received 7.1% votes.

Bali was chosen among majority Europeans, while Asians chose Paris as their ideal honeymoon destination.

In 2009 Bali was awarded the World’s Best Island by Travel & Leisure Magazine, while the Lonely Planet’s Best of Travel 2010 ranked Bali second place among the world’s Top Regions.

Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali appeals through its sheer natural beauty of looming volcanoes and lush green terraced rice fields that exude peace and serenity. Bali enchants with its dramatic dances and colorful ceremonies, its arts and crafts, to its romantic and luxurious beach resorts.

Those who seek romance in the tranquility of hillside traditional villages will definitely fall in love with Ubud. The romantic side of Ubud was even captured in Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestselling memoir Eat Pray Love, which later turned into a movie featuring Julia Roberts. On the southern peninsula of the island, nature presents some of its finest panoramas for romantic settings along the beaches of Uluwatu, Balangan, and Jimbaran. Watching dolphins in the open sea in Lovina, the sun rise over Sanur Beach, or Sunset overlooking the magnificent temple of Tanah Lot are just among some of the unforgettable experiences of Bali.

With increasing number of direct flights from many parts of the world, getting to Bali is easy. Flights from Jakarta to Bali take about 1.5 hours, from Singapore and Perth (Australia) around 2.5 hours and 3 hours, from Hong Kong about 4.5 hours, and from Sydney/Melbourne about 5.5 hours to 6 hours on many national and international carriers. Starting this year, Garuda Indonesia will offer non-stop flights between London-Jakarta, with connecting flights to Bali.
