I an effort to develop Fiji’s travel and tourism industry, Fiji Airways announced three schedule changes resulting from its five-year strategic plan.

This, according to managing director and chief executive officer Stefan Pichler, were new direct Sydney-Suva and Apia-Suva services to open up the east coast to holiday makers and business travellers alike.

“The change also includes an amendment to some Auckland-Nadi departure times to improve ferry and flight connections with the outer islands,” he said during a press conference in Suva recently.

“Our proposed capacity increases across the regions include Asia by 144 per cent, Pacific Islands by 86.6 per cent, New Zealand by 58.9 per cent, Australia by 28.4 per cent and domestic by 12.3 per cent. Current seat availability to the US remains stable.”

He said the purpose of the airline’s aggressive financial performance strategy over the next five years was driven by four pillars.
One, he said, was creating the Fiji Airways brand into an inspirational brand for customers, staff members and the nation.
