A major snowstorm is continuing to impact parts of the Northeast Friday morning after dumping several inches of snow in cities such as Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh since Thursday.

The worst of the storm is focusing along the New England coast where upwards of a foot of snow have been reported. Gusty winds also accompanied this snow, making for blizzard conditions from New York to Boston with wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

9:05 a.m. EST Friday: “Areas southeast of Boston are still being hit hard. The Cape and Islands will see the heaviest snow over the next several hours,” AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Dan DePodwin said. “Blowing and drifting snow remains common in many areas from DC to Boston.”
