Seychelles group leads the way in social responsibility causes

Mr. Ramu Pillay was personally present at the SURMER Establishment on Christmas Day itself to bring the Christmas spirit to a group of 72 orphans and disadvantaged children living in homes with the Roman Catholic Nuns at Sainte Elizabeth Convent and also at Anse Etoile.

Mr. Ramu Pillay of the Pillay R. Group of Companies in Seychelles has been hosting a Christmas lunch for children living in these two home for the last ten years, and this last Christmas Day was no exception. A Christmas present for each of the children and each accompanying nun had been organized with music by entertainer Joseph Sinon. The children were also treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch.

Present at the function was the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange, who said as he addressed the ceremony that Mr. Ramu Pillay needed to be congratulated for his social responsibility stand. “You work hard as a businessman, you are a successful businessman, and you always find time to care for those who are less fortunate. Christmas is a time for giving, and you are leading by example Mr. Ramu. I thank you for your generosity and for being a caring businessman,” Minister St.Ange said.

Also present were Mr. Antoine Onezime, the CEO of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, and Ms. Cindy Wirtz also from the SBC TV.

When he addressed those present, Mr. Ramu Pillay said that he was committed to give back to the society and that this Christmas lunch was just one of the areas in which his company will continue to play its part for Seychelles.
