SOFIA, Bulgaria – The number of Belarusian tourists who received tourist visas to holiday in Bulgaria increased by 69% in 2013. Deputy PM Daniela Bobeva, who is in charge of Bulgariaโs economic development, announced the news when asked by Lilyana Pavlova, MP with the oppositional Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) party, what state institutions were doing to support companies in the tourism sector.
Ms Bobeva also replied that state employees were sent to Belarus in order to deal with the increased number of applications for [tourist] visas.
โThe number of [tourist] visas which were issued to Russian citizens increased by 10% and the visas to Ukrainian citizens โ by 9%,โ she added.
Daniela Bobeva also informed that a strategy for the development of the tourism sector had been prepared, which was currently discussed with companies in the sector.
