AUSTIN, Texas – To enhance Texas visitors’ experience and highlight the wide variety of activities available across the Lone Star State, Texas Tourism recently released the ‘Travel Texas’ mobile app for Android and iPhone users. The official mobile travel app serves as a passport to a one-of-a-kind trip through the Lone Star State.

“The ‘Travel Texas’ mobile app is an exciting new addition to the Texas trip-planning process, allowing visitors to not only plan a unique and customized Texas vacation, but also to share their experience with friends and family, making trip planning to the Lone Star State easier than ever,” Texas Tourism director Brad Smyth said.

From BBQ, Western adventure and beaches to arts, music and family events, users can explore sites and activities across the state with the new interactive app. Visitors have the ability to plan their trips ahead of time by building a complete itinerary prior to their arrival. While on their trip, the mobile app allows users to check in at stops along the way to earn passport stamps which can be shared with friends and family via social media. The app also allows travelers to discover new experiences along the way via its “near me” feature, which suggests popular attractions and events near any current location.

The new mobile app builds on an exciting year for Texas Tourism, which recently launched an all-new, multi-platform online advertising campaign. This campaign was recognized with two W3 Awards in recognition of its innovative use of digital media to promote Texas. It also was awarded highest honors at the 34th Annual Telly Awards in the travel/tourism category, winning silver and bronze statuettes for two television spots.
