KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia – Americans visiting Sabah are only advised to take precautionary measures when visiting some isolated parts of the State that have experienced some security issues, according to Ambassador of the United States to Malaysia, Joseph Y. Yun.

He said some parts of Sabah had experienced some security issues.

โ€œOn these isolated parts of Sabah we have told Americans to be more careful when traveling there. But certainly these are isolated parts and I am sure you are all aware which part of Sabah,โ€ he said during a press conference after the presentation of the America Series boon donation to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS Koleksi Perdana Library here yesterday.

However, in places where such incidences have not occurred, it is safe to travel, he said.

โ€œSo obviously, there are no problems. But where there have been these incidences, we have cautioned Americans to be extra cautious.โ€

Overall, he described Sabah as a beautiful place and a good tourist place with a lot of excellent facilities.
