NEW YORK, NY – A British tourist who lost a leg when a taxi jumped a curb and hit her in New York’s Rockefeller Center has started the process of suing the city.

Sian Green filed what’s called a notice of claim against the city in November. Lawyer Daniel Marchese said on Tuesday other parties also might face lawsuits.

Green’s $27.5 million city claim says the cabbie’s hack licence should have been suspended before the August 20 accident because he had prior driving violations.

The city Taxi and Limousine Commission has cited a now-fixed computer problem.

The city Law Department says it will review the claim, first reported on Tuesday by news website DNAinfo.

Cabbie Mohammed Faysal Himon has said the accident wasn’t his fault.

Green was helped by bystanders, including television’s Dr Oz.
