SHAH ALAM, Malaysia – Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the agency will restructure its operations to make it more effective in promoting Malaysia to foreign countries.

She said the agency would be looking for better ways to attract more tourists to come to Malaysia during the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign amid a tight budget.

“We don’t have a big budget for promotion, therefore we need to use creativity and innovation to stretch the dollar,” she told 150 of the agency’s directors from overseas and domestic offices, who were having a comprehensive tour at i-City here Thursday night.

Thus, she urged the agency’s officers to make full use of digital technology in doing their promotional work.

She also said the agency’s offices such as in Alor Setar and Kota Baharu would use a more practical approach to do tourism promotion in southern Thailand, as they were nearer instead of relying on the office in Bangkok.
