DUBAI – The World’s Most Luxurious Hotel, Burj Al Arab, celebrated the 42nd United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Day in magnificent style with perhaps the greatest visual performance ever to grace her sail.

A stunning laser and digital 3D display, accompanied by spectacular choreographed music, captured the historic 42-year journey back to when the UAE was founded in 1971.

For those not being able to see the remarkable 15-minute show, huge screens were mounted in key locations across Dubai, including Downtown Dubai, Dubai Mall and the open beach offering a dazzling evening.

Gerald Lawless, President and Group CEO of Jumeirah Group, said: “With Burj Al Arab as the canvas of the dazzling show organized by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, we are honored to play such an integral role in celebrating this significant day. The achievements of the United Arab Emirates made in just 42 years lead to even brighter prospects for the future, with a number of ambitious projects and Dubai being chosen to host the World Expo 2020.”

His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing said: “I would like to congratulate His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan, President of the UAE; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the UAE’s National Day, celebrating the founding of our country and the unification of the seven emirates.”

He also added: “Dubai is a destination known for creating events and initiatives that surprise and delight, and this show was sure to capture the imagination of residents, visitors and viewers from around the world as we celebrated the founding of the UAE 42 years ago. This event was a fitting finale to an incredible few days for the UAE – beginning with the announcement of the country’s successful bid to host Expo2020 in Dubai last Wednesday evening, with planned and spontaneous celebrations spilling over across the country throughout the National Day weekend and culminating in last night’s laser and light spectacular that was broadcast across the city and will no doubt be seen around the world in the coming days.”

Inside, the BAA atrium was adorned with 92 UAE flags made up 12,000 roses and 110m-long UAE flag, while guests enjoyed a special afternoon tea with Arabic touches.
