MINSK, Belarus – About 10,000 tourists from 29 countries have bought New Year tours to Belarus, up by 4,000 people compared to the previous year, Director of the Tourist Information Center Minsk Tamara Orekhova told reporters answering a question of a BelTA journalist on 4 December.

These tourists will visit Minsk during New Year festivities from 25 December to 7 January. โ€œThe city is turning into a popular tourist destination. Visitors are offered Christmas discounts, a number of cultural, sports and tourist events. Forty-five travel agencies will provide tourist services to foreign nationals,โ€ Tamara Orekhova said.

Tours will include excursions around Minsk and the neighboring places of interest. One or two days will be given to Minsk and another two or three days to individual regions. A three or four day tours with accommodation in a three-star hotel will cost about Br2.5 million on the average.

Tourists will be able to choose among 114 excursions in Minsk. They might also use the services of tour guide interpreters; there are over 400 of them in Minsk. The Tourist Information Center Minsk offers audio-guides for rent, including for people with special needs.

Minsk is becoming more popular with sport lovers, Tamara Orekhova believes. Twelve teams will take part in the International Christmas Cup that will be held in Chizhovka Arena and Minsk Arena on 3-7 January. Eight teams participated in the tournament last year.

Children will also be broadly involved in the festivities that will be held in 29 places all over Minsk.
