LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe Certification is at the forefront of delivering sustainable solutions to the international travel and tourism market, and Green Globe’s Caribbean Representative, Ms. Wendy Walker-Drakes, will be one of the presenters at CTEF.

Green Globe member, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will be hosting the upcoming Caribbean Tourism Energy Forum (CTEF), from December 10 – 11, 2013. This new annual event was designed to connect the region’s hospitality industry to world-class providers of technology, capital, and expertise.

“This CTEF meeting is very important, as it will bring together the major stakeholders in the energy and tourism sectors, technology, and financing, along with policy agencies and local hoteliers, to examine the challenges of doing sustainable business in the region,” said Ms. Walker-Drakes. “Green Globe members are committed to continuously improve their energy performance, and I will highlight a few success stories of our Elite Members in the area during the event. The outcome of this forum will have a huge effect on the implementation of world-class energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for the Caribbean’s tourism industry.”

CTEF will be the first event to focus exclusively on lowering the electricity bill for the region’s hospitality sector. CTEF is organized by New Energy Events, producers of the annual Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF), and is co-hosted by the Government of the Dominican Republic, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank.

Speakers at the forum will explore best practice technology and financing solutions for Caribbean hotels and resorts. All speakers have been selected, based on their ability to present case studies of what demonstrably works.

Registration for CTEF is still open, and Green Globe members and partners are eligible for a 30% discounted rate. Please visit www.caritourismenergyforum.com/registration and supply discount code NEEGGL when prompted.
