Constantly tourists die in Karon Beach Surf in Thailand

Thai Police named the victim as Edward Joseph Brookes, 63, a tourist on holidays in Thailand from England.

According to local media reports this happened yesterday at Karon Beach in Southern Thailand, only hours after storm warnings were issued by local authorities.

Mr Brookes disappeared inin front of Karon Municipality Stadium at 2:40pm

By the time lifeguards noticed Mr Brookes was in trouble, he was about 70 meters from the shore.

Lifeguards rushed out and brought him back to the beach. They administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead after being rushed by ambulance to a local hospital.

Karon Beach has gained a notorious reputation for surf safety over the years. The tourist-popular beach is prone to large waves and dangerous rips during the southwest monsoon season.

A Norwegian tourist, drowned at the beach a week earlier.

Late last month, two more tourists โ€“ a Russian man and a Chinese man โ€“ drowned within hours of each other at the same beach.
