PHUKET, Thailand – A 37-year-old visitor from Russia was found dead on the bed in his hotel room in Karon yesterday.
He had checked into the Baan Karonburi hotel, alone, on September 28. Police were called after his body was discovered by staff when he failed to check out as scheduled. Police believe he had been dead for at least four hours before his body was discovered, and that he died from a medical condition he suffered from – they found various medicines in the room and there was no sign of a struggle in the room or injuries on the body.
Phuket Ruamjai Foundation volunteers took the Russian’s body to Patong Hospital for an autopsy. The Russian Embassy has been advised and has been asked to contact the dead man’s family.
