LOS ANGELES, California – “Gone are the days when corporate social responsibility was just an option.

LOS ANGELES, California – “Gone are the days when corporate social responsibility was just an option. At Movenpick Hotel Deira, we make this part of our daily business,” said Anke Glaessing, General Manager at Movenpick Hotel Deira. “We are very proud to have earned Green Globe certification for the third consecutive year, and our achievement reinforces our corporate commitment to secure region-wide certification of all our Middle East properties.”

Since its opening three years ago, Green Globe Member, the Movenpick Hotel Deira in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has demonstrated outstanding efforts and innovation in the fields of operational efficiency and corporate responsibility. For Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, sustainability is about meeting current needs, while at the same time preserving and contributing to the future for generations to come.

The values of quality, reliability, and care are fundamental in guiding this upscale property towards best sustainable business practices. A special Green Committee, formed of 12 individuals from different departments, monitors the progress of eco-friendly measures, shaping and realizing the hotel’s environmental goals. “We strive to continuously improve our water and energy conservation efforts, sustainable purchasing practices, employee engagement, and community awareness programs,” added Anke Glaessing.

The Movenpick Hotel Deira supports a number of social and fund raising activities, contributing to a positive community and environment. Environmental initiatives, such as ‘Clean up the World’ and ‘Earth Hour Walk’ are organized on a regular basis. Earlier this year, on July 28, over 150 employees from all five Movenpick Hotels & Resorts in Dubai gathered at the Sheikh Rashid Hall of the Dubai World Trade Center to help in packing and distributing care packages to over 5,000 laborers during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Through the combined effort of Movenpick Hotel Deira, Movenpick Hotel Apartments The Square, Movenpick Hotel & Apartments Bur Dubai, Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach, and Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate, over 100 care packages have been donated, containing packed and canned food, bath and dental kits, as well as pillows, blankets and mattresses to the Adopt-a-Camp foundation.

The audit for the Movenpick Hotel Deira was conducted by Farnek Avireal, lead sustainable consultancy in the MENA region.
