The Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy has appointed Jose Carlos de Santiago, president and CEO of the Excelencias Group, as the institution’s ambassador to Hispanic America, a move that would entitle him to act on behalf of this institution in the creation and formalization of the Caribbean Gastronomy & Tourism Academy attached to the both the Iberian-American and the International Gastronomy academies.

The decision was taken during the latest meeting of the Board of Directors of the Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy and it came on the heels of a joint report presented by Chairman Rafael Anson and associate President Nicolas Muela.

According to the abovementioned report, the decision is a way to recognize “all the actions Jose Carlos de Santiago has been conducting in an altruist fashion for the sake of Iberian-American gastronomy and tourism, especially in favor of this institution.”

Jose Carlos de Santiago is currently the president and CEO of the Excelencias Group, a corporation founded in 1997 whose main goal is the promotion and fostering of travel, tourism, culture and cuisine of Hispanic America and the Caribbean.

His Excelencias Group Company puts out 35 different printed and digital publications –including Caribbean News Digital- and has collaboration agreements with UNESCO. Its alliance with the FUCADHU Foundation for Human Development in the Americas and the Caribbean has resulted in programs, projects and activities that greatly contribute to the comprehensive advance of countries, communities and vulnerable human groups.
