HAWAII, USA; BRUSSELS, Belgium; VICTORIA, Seychelles; BALI, Indonesia – The International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) President, Professor Geoffrey Lipman, is to be a keynote speaker at the Statia Sustainable Tourism and Water Conference from September 25-27. The conference will celebrate World Tourism Day, and engage locals and visitors around the theme of “Protecting Our Common Future.” St. Eustatius is a Council Member of ICTP.

Together with its partner, Urban Green Energy (UGE), ICTP will hand over a Renewable Energy Report that contains a site assessment and preliminary site design for St. Eustatius. It is based on UGE hybrid solutions (combining wind and solar) that ensure energy security, reduced related costs, and illustrates a destination’s commitment to sustainability. ICTP and UGE will also launch their first bi-monthly “e-Futures” newsletter. It will present success stories, inspiring innovations, and other technological advances in renewable energies.

In his intervention, Professor Lipman will focus on the numerous green growth and travelism (travel & tourism) opportunities within the region generally and for Statia in particular. He said that “renewable energy projects are absolutely in the sweet spot for green growth, and the wind and solar potential of the Caribbean is enormous. Through our partner GATEtrip, we will source new impact investment for green growth projects driven by clean energy technology and benefitting communities in the region.
