Pakistan International Airlines management continues to take decisions which may further mess up things in the already beleaguered airline. Adhocracy in the national carrier is running the discipline, so vital to run an organization on true corporate lines as decisions are being taken by minions without getting them vetted by those who know their job.

They continue to make loss-making decisions despite the fact that airline’s survival is at stake owing to similar decisions taken by managements holding control of PIA’s affairs in the past. According to PIA insiders, Anjum Amin Mirza, General Manager Co-ordination and Colonel Malik Zahid Hamid (Retd), Special Assistant Technical to the Managing Director PIA, have been sent to New York for three weeks audit course on the recommendation of Chief Financial Officer Nayyar Hayat.

They said that this course is designed especially for the people concerned working in the relevant department but sending a technical assistant and general manager co-ordination for the course reflects the resolve of high-up’s sitting at the helm of affairs as to how much they are concerned with the revival of the airline. They urged the government and aviation division to take notice of such corruption in the airline.

They further revealed that on the one hand, the government directed Aviation Division to immediately put up a comprehensive summary for restructuring of Pakistan International Airlines to reduce its current Rs 3.3 billion annual losses. On the other hand, PIA management is repeating the past mistakes causing losses. PIA insiders further said this is only one example and which has been unearthed. There are several other similar stories relating to utilization of human resources where one finds worst-type of nepotism and spending money on people unconcerned for different courses, which is causing huge losses to the airline.
