Skytrax World Airport Awards 2008
Munich takes best airport in Europe award for fourth straight year
For the fourth year in a row, Munich Airport has been named the winner of the
"Best Airport in Europe" award in an international survey of 8.2 million passengers worldwide. The annual Airport Survey conducted by Skytrax, an independent, London-based aviation market research firm, is the largest international customer survey of airport quality standards.
For this year´s survey, passengers were asked to assess more than 40 aspects
of customer satisfaction for airport product and service standards at 190 airports around the world, ranging from ease of catching connecting flights to the cleanliness of restrooms and the efficiency of security checks.
Passengers also ranked Munich #5 in the worldwide rankings behind Asian
hubs Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi, Seoul Incheon and
Kuala Lumpur airports in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2008.
"We´re extremely pleased to remain passengers´ favored airport in Europe for
high quality and efficiency in 2008, and this despite the fact that Munich´s passenger traffic grew so strongly in the past year," says Dr. Michael Kerkloh, CEO of the Munich Airport operating company, FMG.

We had a very negative experience at Munich Airport last month. Our connecting flight to Milan, required us to walk from the arriving terminal to another terminal. The signs for the connecting terminal were not clear. When we asked a security person, whichway to go - he just gestured with his hand a direction and when we were confused, refused to do antyhing to help us. We almost missed our flight due to the lack of help from the security guard as to which door we were suppose to go through. I would vote a NEGATIVE vote for Munich. Even now, we will not fly Lufthansa to Europe from Denver - opting for another route to Europe. Munich was a very negative experienve for our group.
