Canadian SKAL president wants the world to know

SKAL is about friendship among leading tourism professionals around the world and doing business with friends.

Lloyd W. Beazley, the 2013 President SKAL International Canada issued the following statement and open letter.

The recent devastating flooding in Banff, Canmore and Calgary Alberta made international headlines. While the flood waters have receded so has tourism. The full clean up and repair of infrastructure may take years to complete however, much of the area has returned to near normal and is ready to get back to business as usual. The Calgary airport was unaffected and the washed out roads and bridges near Canmore and in Banff National Park on the trans-Canada highway are repaired and traffic moving freely again.

As Canadian President, I would like to ask fellow Skalleagues around the world to get the word out that Calgary, Canmore, Banff and the rest of the Canadian Rockies are again open for business. The economic loss of the tourism decline is severe and only compounds the effects of the flooding and over a much greater segment of the business community than was directly affected by flooding. Your assistance in getting your friends, family and clients to consider a trip to Calgary and the Canadian Rockies in the near future would be greatly appreciated.

Fellow Skalleagues please, in the spirit of SKAL, help your fellow Skalleagues during this stressful time. Your moral support by email or call to a friend in the affected area, as well as promoting international tourism to Calgary and Banff would be greatly appreciated.
