CALGARY, Canada – WestJet today announced it will fly 57,464 guests today, setting a new single-day record for guests traveling with the airline.

“Whether our guests are traveling home to see friends and family or taking advantage of a great vacation package to the sun, we’re pleased to welcome them on board today,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Guest Experience. “In a year filled with important milestones, a record-setting day is a testament to the work of WestJetters across our network. My thanks go to all WestJetters who continue to deliver a remarkable guest experience. I would also like to thank those guests who have chosen to fly with us during the Christmas season and throughout the year.”

Across the airline’s network, WestJetters have been getting into the holiday spirit by volunteering their time with its WestJet Cares for Kids partner charities. At this busy time of year, WestJetters who work in the airline’s Calgary campus and in offices across the country also offer their time to help in airports, helping guests use kiosks and agents drop off and sort baggage.

Earlier this month, the airline unveiled its WestJet Christmas Flash mob where WestJet employees turned the D-wing of Calgary International Airport into Santa’s workshop, spreading Christmas cheer just before a sold-out red-eye flight to Toronto earlier this month.
