A dedicated eco-team monitors the progress of green measures, shaping and realizing environmental goals set forth by L’Heure Bleue. The resort is equipped with a high-end solar power installation, the first one in Madagascar. Water supply comes from the basement of the surrounding hills, drawn through pumps, and recovered in a tank of 10,000 liters. Wastewater is collected and processed through filters made of coconut and dead coral to feed the garden. Waste treatment is optimized at the property, with compost made of food waste, and a comprehensive recycling system in place. Guests are encouraged to share the unique experience of Nosy Be, and join in on themed excursions, exploring the marine diversity of the area.
L’Heure Bleue is a committed player, and is actively involved with the local community, protecting and raising awareness of the environment in the region. ‘Clean Village / Beach Clean Up’ events are organized on a regular basis. The special ‘Environment Club’ was created for the Madirokely schoolchildren. The resort recruits local staff, contributing to social balance and salaries are 30% above average. In addition, a health fund of solidarity has been established for staff and their families.
