LOS ANGELES, California – IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts recently received Green Globe certification for its three properties in Jamaica, further showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainable development. Properties awarded include the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Rose Hall, IBEROSTAR Rose Hall Suites, and IBEROSTAR Rose Hall Beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

“We are very proud of the Green Globe recognition for all IBEROSTAR properties in Montego Bay,” said Philipp Hofer, Director at the IBEROSTAR Rose Hall complex. “The certification speaks for the brand’s commitment to remain environmentally conscious of this beautiful island, while providing the best possible service to our guests. It is our goal to continuously improve our efforts in a sustainable, profitable, and respectful manner.”

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has integrated a number of policies in support of eco-friendly development, such as optimizing energy resources, reducing water consumption, protecting the habitat, and recycling PET, cardboard, aluminum, and other materials. At their Jamaica resorts, IBEROSTAR has activated several changes to the internal infrastructure, resulting in better storage and disposal of biodegradable material and recyclable products.

The Rose Hall Estate sits in an extensive low-lying coastal strip, rich in fauna and flora, and the IBEROSTAR team is fully dedicated to the preservation of its natural surroundings. Turtle nesting occurs along the resorts’ beaches – Hawksbill turtles return to the same beach each time to lay their eggs. The local fish and bird community is quite significant as well – species, such as the Jamaican lizard cuckoo or the white-crowned pigeon can be spotted here.

In addition to the environmental practices implemented, the IBEROSTAR properties are closely involved with the local community, promoting awareness of social and cultural needs, through a variety of actions. Throughout the year, IBEROSTAR remains dedicated to supporting SOS Children’s Village, the Salvation Army, Infirmary of Falmouth, and the New Day Experimental School with donations and voluntary work. Visitors are encouraged to participate in coastal clean-up days, organized by the properties on a regular basis.

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts currently offers 18 properties in the Caribbean and Mexico, ranging from the adults-only “Grand Collection,” to couple and family-friendly “Premium Gold,” and “Premium category” resorts – together featuring a variety of ideal locations for memorable vacation experiences.
