According to the German Travel Association (DRV) Greece remains one of the most popular tourist destinations for German visitors.
DRV is the leading advocacy group for all companies of the travel industry in Germany. It represents tour operators and travel agents of all organizational forms and sizes, service providers and foreign tourist boards vis-a-vis political stakeholders and the business community in Germany and abroad. After the American ASTA and the British ABTA, DRV is the world’s third largest tourism industry association. More than 80% of the sales revenues of the German travel agent and tour operator market are generated by members of the association.
During their meeting in Berlin, from the members of the Greek-German Working Group that record the best practices in order to promote Greece for holiday making, the President of the Association, Jurgen Buci, said that tourism in Greece is the key to financial growth.
The Working Group has found that in fact Greek destinations have much more to offer than just the sun and the sea, and they share the common belief that the development of medical, marine and religious tourism can extend the tourist season which is limited between May and September. Germans spend € 64 bn every year on traveling.
