BALTIMORE - A first-of-its-kind hotel travel package will allow visitors to experience a weird, wacky, and off-the-beaten path vacation this summer. The Discover Weird US Getaway is now offered in boutique and branded hotels located in 10 states from Florida to Massachusetts through http://www.discoverweirdus.com/.

The getaway is based on "Weird U.S., Your Travel Guide to America's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets" by Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman. The book serves as a travel guide to places most visitors would never find on regular maps. This guide is full of local legends, crazy characters, haunted sites, and bizarre roadside attractions that reflect modern folklore.

The Discover Weird US Getaway includes deluxe overnight accommodations, breakfast for two, a copy of the Weird US book, and an exclusive "Top Weird Spots to Discover" guide to the region, available only to visitors taking advantage of this special offer. Several of the featured attractions include:

-- Cottage City - the real-life home 40 miles south of Baltimore, Maryland, that inspired The Exorcist

-- P.T. Barnum Museum - a tribute to the showman and his exhibits in Bridgeport, Connecticut

-- Eastern State Penitentiary - the haunted and abandoned prison in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

-- The Big Tree - at 3,500 years, it's the oldest living thing in Florida

-- Bridgewater Triangle - a hotspot for UFOs and strange animal sightings in Massachusetts

-- Headless Horseman Bridge - this bridge in Tarrytown, NY, was made famous by Washington Irving's legendary tale of Sleepy Hollow
