Dollar hike should not reduce demand from Brazilian tourists for US destinations

Leonel Rossi Jr., VP of International Affairs of ABAV, said the dollar appreciation should not result in retracted demand from Brazilians for U.S. destinations during the July vacations.

Leonel Rossi Jr., VP of International Affairs of ABAV, said the dollar appreciation should not result in retracted demand from Brazilians for U.S. destinations during the July vacations.

“Even though the variation of the U.S. dollar, which has appreciated compared to the Brazilian real, raises from 6% to 7% the costs of international traveling for Brazilian tourists, it will not cause a retraction in demand, especially now, during the July vacations,” said Leonel Rossi Jr.

Considering that package tours to the United States sold in Brazil can be paid in up to ten installments, Rossi Jr. believes the impact of the dollar raise on the average price of tours to Disney or cities like New York, Miami, and Orlando will be of nearly R$800—which should not significantly affect the demand from Brazilians for that country.

“The nominal price for stays, and food and beverage in the United States are appealing. There are even hotels that offer rooms with two queen/king size beds, which make it even more affordable for family groups to travel,” he said.
