At 8:40 am today, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, an explosion occurred at a maintenance shop near Gate D21 at Hartsfeld-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

At 8:40 am today, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, an explosion occurred at a maintenance shop near Gate D21 at Hartsfeld-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.

According to authorities, the electrical explosion was minimal and knocked out power to one concourse. Reese McCranie, Deputy Drector at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport said the explosion caused “minor property damage” but no fire.

Power was temporarily shut down in some areas of Concourse D, however, firefighters on the scene soon allowed passengers to their gates.

No injuries were reported.
