Idle For More Than Five Years

Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal-3 opens to domestic flights next month

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal-3, idle for more than five years, begins servicing domestic flights next month, officials at its trial run said yesterday.

Airport general manager Alfonso Cusi said more than 100 employees and government officials joined the dry run at the terminal’s departure and arrival areas. He said the terminal would serve the domestic flights of Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines starting in July before handling international traffic next year.

"The newly-renovated domestic airport will continue to operate despite Terminal-3’s opening," Cusi said. With a capacity of 13 million passengers a year, the new terminal should relieve crowding at the domestic airport, which handles more than five million passengers. Cusi assured the public that structural problems from two years ago will be fixed before next month’s opening.

Is this "new" terminal going to continue insulting passengers by not allowing them into the terminal building to assist their friends with luggage and children, etc. Naia is a monumental disgrace to the Philippines as compared to the neighbouring Asian countries passenger friendly airport terminal buildings.
