American Airlines launches nonstop Chicago-Dusseldorf service

CHICAGO, Ill. – American Airlines launches new service today to Dusseldorf, Germany, from its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, adding a new destination to American’s global route map.

The new flight, operated with a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 28 Business Class seats and 184 Main Cabin seats, offers customers the opportunity to conveniently travel to Germany and to nearby Belgium and the Netherlands.

“We are very excited to be offering this new route to one of Europe’s premier business destinations,” said Franco Tedeschi, American’s Vice President โ€“ Chicago. “This new route augments our existing European service from Chicago and the route launched recently by our oneworldยฎ and codeshare partner, airberlin, from O’Hare to Berlin. Having two new fights to Germany is a win-win for Chicago business and leisure travelers.”

“The ability to reach foreign markets with direct flights has a profound effect on our economy,” said Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino. “It represents a great opportunity to grow business and tourism. In fact, the annual economic impact to the Chicago area from this new service is estimated at $125 million. This service will further enhance strong business connections between Germany and Chicago. Germany is a top investor in our city. There are about 200 Germany-based companies in the Chicago area at 500 locations.”

American Airlines is also offering AAdvantageยฎ members up to 20,000 bonus miles every time they fly a round trip on the new route. Customers flying on Business Class and select Economy Class fares (booked in Y, B or H) will receive 20,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for every round trip, and those flying on all other Economy Class fares will receive 10,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for every round trip. In addition to the new route between Chicago and Dusseldorf, American is launching new international service to Asia and Europe later this spring and summer, delivering on the airline’s business plan and network strategy designed to provide more access and choices for customers in key international markets. American will add new service to Europe between New York โ€“ JFK and Dublin, Ireland, beginning June 12. From its largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth, American will also launch its first-ever service to Seoul, South Korea, on May 9. American also launched new service to Latin America with a daily nonstop flight between Dallas/Fort Worth and Lima on April 1.

From Chicago, American flies to London, Manchester, Dublin, Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, and seasonally to Rome and Helsinki in Europe, as well as Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Aditionally, American and American Eagle offer nonstop service to three cities in Canada and four cities in Mexico.
