Luxury hotels: Antigua and Barbuda boasts most expensive resort in the Caribbean

The Lighthouse Bay Resort in Antigua and Barbuda is the most expensive hotel in the Caribbean. This finding is the result of a new survey conducted by CaribbeanResorts.net, which based its rankings on each hotelโ€™s average rate for the most affordable double room. The Caribbeanโ€™s high travel season of January to March 2013 served as the basis of comparison.

To stay in the Lighthouse Bay this past season, travelers had to spend an average of US$2,490 per night. Thatโ€™s considerably more than the second most expensive hotel, the Amanyara resort. Located in the Turks & Caicos Islands, this number two finisher came in at an average of US$2,059 per night. Anguillaโ€™s Sheriva Villa Hotel rounded out the top 3 at an average of US$1,914 per night.

Three more luxury resorts in the twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda landed in the Top 10. In Antigua, the Jumby Bay and Hermitage Bay resorts made a showing with average rates of US$1,898 and US$1,423, respectively, per night for the most affordable double room. In Barbuda, the Coco Point Lodge also secured a spot at an average rate of US$1,515.
